We are a sake brewery of Ibaraki – a famous plum location – so making umeshu is only logical.
Kiuchi Brewery created a very unique umeshu by immersing local plums into a spirit distilled from our "White Ale".

Kiuchi Umeshu

The award-winning beer, Hitachino Nest "White Ale" which has won numerous gold medals in Japan and overseas beer contests is our most consumed beer in the world. The White Ale is gently made into a beer spirit by triple distillation using a low temperature vacuum distillation still. Kiuchi Umeshu is completed by pickling plums in the spirit. The taste of ume blends with the flavor of White Ale's hops and herbs. An addition of fructose adds gentleness to the body and sweetness to the flavor. Enjoy the fusion of special spirits and plums.

Sparkling Kiuchi Umeshu

This is a 6.0% abv sparkling umeshu with a unique taste of special spirits made from Hitachino Nest White Ale – a global award-winning champion. A refreshing aroma of hops and herbs, light sweetness of malt, and nice acidity of plums characterize this beverage. Keep chilled and enjoy straight.

In 2009, Kiuchi Umeshu rose to number 1 in Japan.
"Tenma Tenjin Umeshu Competition", the biggest umeshu contest in Japan, gathers more than 160 different umeshu from 100 breweries from all over Japan. On 8th March 2009, Kiuchi Umeshu received the top prize of Japanese Umeshu. Sake, beer and shochu. The next challenge was wine. We searched through the Hitachi area for its rich ingredients. We found yuzu and plum.
